'Mother'ing

Every parent knows how difficult it is with a four year old. But their troubles are nothing compared to mine. Parents work while the kiddo goes to the school/ day care. We are studying parents.
Morning is a running race which beats Olympics in excitement. Get everything and everyone ready. No one finds anything ranging from hankie to important files. Maid turns up precisely at the wrong moment and you wish you were transported to outer space right that instant.
In the evening, struggle with manager to leave at usual time, struggle in the traffic to find that elusive space for your vehicle, struggle with your household chores while trying to handle your kid who goes ‘waaah’ at every second minute (god knows why they don’t cry at school !!).
Ahaa.. I can see familiar looks on the faces of those who are reading this. Now what different do I have to say? I am a “studying” mother not a working one. Don’t raise eyebrows, I’m not done yet. It is not an ordinary college where u just attend classes and forget what you’ve heard there and be back home on time.
Imagine a campus like IIM where its study-study 24/7. Aah! Now I have your attention. I’ve got to do my homework as well as get my kiddos homework done. Read for my exams as well as follow the LKG test schedule. I end up getting many comments in the school dairy so much so that it actually is a daily conversation between the teacher and me.
Kids these are intelligent. My kid follows my timetable more than hers. She goes cranky the day before I’ve an important submission or test. It has become so much of a routine that when she goes ‘waaah’ I start thinking ‘what’s there for me tomorrow?’
I wonder why the kids forget that they have daddy’s shoulder as well to cry on. Dad’s there just for play or to get those things that are forbidden by mom done. Dad is daughter’s best friend. Ya, ya, but what about mom?

  4. Wow, it reads just as a straight-from-the-heart post should. And you have a great unobtrusive sense of sarcasm - Was wondering how such a small kid could remember your timetable before it hit me and I fell ROTFL. Keep them coming. I have linked ur blog from my blog, trust that's okay.

  5. Hmm so much for being a mom...But I guess it goes without saying that dad's role is that of one who pampers if its a girl and mom in turn does it if its a boy....the phenomenon is universal if i can take the liberty to say that.....

A kid definitely needs someone's support to pull off those pranks...and since you don't seem to be the supportive kind :P...dad's got to fit into those shoes :)

  7. While i don't have to comment Anonymous...but choosing to be
so as at this time, as 'time' would anyway bring to light 'whoami'...

Again, choosing to comment only in this section of this well
    maintained blog:

I would rather agree in line with the initial comments here,
and that between all the work to home pressures a mom or even
dad goes through during the day, the little ones, be it a
4 month or 4 yrs or even 14, get to bear the stress of parents
Inadvertently and more so bearing it all, silently.

How many times do we control ourselves not to shout at little ones when they are coming in the way to hold them close while we are trying
to catch the falling piece at home or running to get the 8.15am local.. or before we are done with saving the days work on lap.

How many times do we hug a little one to talk one-on and try
console their cries or understand their language known only to
them before they learnt to communicate.

Well, while i agree it's a challenge to us to cope with everyones needs at work & home,
we are also stressing it out on little ones unwantingly.

Only if the little ones knew other ways to communicate their woes
than to cry, blogger would have run out of space to let us create
    new accounts! :)

btw, Appreciate this blog and thoughts in general.
    Great! and keep it up.

  8. First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question
in which I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to know how you
center yourself and clear your head before writing.

I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my
ideas out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how
to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thank you!

  9. I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It is pretty
worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful
    than ever before.
